S.M.A.R.T. Groups
Board of Directors
The Board of Directors are expected to act as the decision makers in conjunction with the membership for the S.M.A.R.T. Organization.
The Board of Director shall:
- Set the overall policy of the organization
- Determine the goals of the organization through an approved program of work
- Provide adequate funds to do the job through the annual budget
- Establish the dues structure
- Elect officers in accordance with the by-laws
- Recommend changes in the by-laws
- Fill all vacancies occurring on the Board of Directors in accordance with the by-laws
- Meet as required by the by-laws, or by call of the President, or on its own motion
- Provide adequate facilities and equipment as required by the committees
- Attend annual meeting prior to the A.B.A. yearly Marketplace
As individuals, the Board of Directors are expected to:
- Attend all meetings of the Board of Directors
- Consult frequently with the membership of the S.M.A.R.T. Organization in order that he or she may be truly representative in his or her legislative function, or to explain Board actions
- Counsel and advise as requested by officers of the corporation, and make suggestions, as well as serve on committees and task forces when requested
- Be the guide post of the entire membership, treating all members with the same respect and representation, regardless of the size and status within the organization
- Perform such duties, within his or her capabilities, as may be requested by the head of the Board
